CERTIFIED ORGANIC AND BIODYNAMIC ESTATE

RESPECT FOR THE LIVING

Organic farming is a preamble, a basic postulate to our Biodynamic practices.

MAS AMIEL produces wines from uniquely of our grapes grown in organic and biodynamic agriculture, excluding any product aimed at modifying their initial balance. Preserving the terroir’s “potential” and conserving the energy capital acquired through biodynamic cultivation are our leitmotif. Today it is the work of a generation.

THE PHILOSOPHY OF BIODYNAMICS

Promoting health rather than fighting disease

Biodynamic agriculture supports the life in the soil and the natural
balance of the vines to provide perfectly healthy grapes. It is based on a deep understanding of the laws of the "living" acquired through a global vision of nature, terrestrial and lunar rhythms. Considered as a living and autonomous organism, the vineyard receives as few inputs as possible.

Preventively, biodynamics promotes health rather than merely fighting disease. It goes further by helping the soil weather the bedrock, unlocking minerals and revealing a unique aromatic and flavor profile in our wines. This approach ensures that the wines fully and completely expressour terroir.

BIODYNAMIC PREPARATIONS

ENERGY CARRIERS

Biodynamics is based on the use of biodynamic preparations produced on the estate to assure a good vegetative cycle and to support the balance in our soils.

These dynamized preparations are diffused on the ground or on the vines, depending on the lunar and planetary rhythms. They connect the vine to its environment, stimulate its forces and energies. Herbal teas and concoctions stimulate and protect the plant.

THE 4 PILLARS OF BIODYNAMICS

Biodynamics is a holistic philosophy of vineyard management. Diseases
are perceived as a reflection of the imbalances of the plant that must be
restored.

Respect for the balance of life

banning synthetic pesticides, using plants to protect the vine.

Invigorate the soil and the vine

with biodynamic preparations: Horn manure (500) and Horn silica (501).

Taking into account cosmic influences

it is the biodynamic calendar that guides the organization of tasks in the winery and in the cellar.

A farm perceived as a being

The wine estate is designed as a living organism. The complementarity between the animal and plant worlds constitutes a vital balance.

PLANTS TO PROTECT

Discover Mas Amiel's methods for creating biodynamic preparations to heal and prevent plant diseases.

CAMOMILE:

Dosage used: 10 to 20g/ha

Composition: Sulphur, calcium, potassium

Objective: To promote the synthesis of sugars in the fruit, to relieve
the vine after hydric stress.

Period of use: Before flowering or after veraison, or in case of extreme heat.

YARROW

Dosage used: 10 to 20 g/ha

Composition: Sulphur and Calcium

Objective: Its infusion spray helps the vine to withstand heat waves. It also mobilizes sulphur and allows us to reduce our doses. It strengthens and stimulates the vine's natural defence.

Period of use: Before flowering or after veraison, or in case of extreme heat. During the vegetative cycle.

PREPARATIONS TO STIMULATE

PREPARATION 500: HORN MANURE

  • Promotes soil health and root system
    development.
  • 100g/ha of cow manure kept underground during winter months in a cow horn
  • Add 40L of warm water.
  • Stir the preparation for 60 minutes.
  • Spraying should be done in the evening on the ground

PREPARATION 501: HORN SILICA

  • Stimulates plant growth.
  • 4g/ha silica powder kept underground during summer months in a cow
    horn
  • Add 40 L of water
  • Stir the preparation for 60 minutes.
  • Spray in mist after flowering until harvest.
