ROBERT PARKER 90 POINTS
RVF (Revue du Vin de France) 15,5/20
In concrete vats
Melted tannins, expressing intrinsic freshness and vivacity. They are powdery with good presence, but always very refined. Richness, strength and great aromatic depth are the features of these old Grenache and Carignan vines planted in calcium-rich schist.
PERFECT FOOD PAIRING :
Lamb tagine with onion marmalade, beef stews
2013 is a historically late vintage at Mas Amiel ! The year’s cold spring and mild summer produced exceptional grapes, boasting heaps of freshness. The weather during the 3 months leading up to the parcel’s harvest (a sunny, but not too hot summer), combined with the season’s cool nights, allowed us to patiently wait until the harvest was perfectly ripened on the 29th of September 2013. The vintage highlights the fresh nature of this parcel.
The first ever dry Maury wine was produced here thanks to the soil's alchemy, made up of highly decomposed calcoschist, the plot's south-eastern exposure and the age of the rootstock.
In 50-hl stainless steel vats. Indigenous yeast, daily pumping over and a 32-day maceration period. Malo-lactic fermentation in vats at the end of December.
HARVEST :
Handpicked on the 29th of September 2013. The bunches are sorted twice on a belt and a vibrating table before being de-stemmed.
